WAI participates in Karen Thomas’ “Seasons” exhibition in Recanati, Italy

On June 1, we celebrated the meeting of art, nature and multiculturalism with the works of Karen Thomas

Welcome Association Italy took part, Saturday, June 1, 2025, in the opening of the exhibition “Seasons. The colors of eternal change” by artist Karen Thomas, hosted at the prestigious Museo Civico Villa Colloredo Mels in Recanati. The initiative, curated by Michele Gambini and Gaia Giovannini, is promoted by the City of Recanati in collaboration with Sistema Museo.

This participation represents more than just an institutional presence for WAI: it is a concrete act in support of culture as a tool for dialogue, integration and collective growth.

Art as a universal language and tool for connection

The exhibition takes the form of a poetic and chromatic itinerary through the seasons of the year and those of life. Karen Thomas ' canvases chronicle natural transformations with a gaze that goes beyond the surface, touching intimate and universal chords. The colors, textures and atmospheres evoke the passage of time, constant change and the beauty that can spring from impermanence.

Thomas' work fits perfectly into the vision of Welcome Association Italy, which has always promoted encounters between cultures and the appreciation of diversity as a resource. Art, in this context, becomes a bridge between identities, a platform in which every observer can recognize himself or herself, even coming from different histories and places.

The voice of institutions: “A moment of profound significance.”

The opening ceremony was also attended by WAI Deputy Secretary General Carlo Palumbo, who emphasized the value of the initiative with these words:

“Being present in Recanati to support an art project of this quality is an act that reflects the heart of our mission. In a time that challenges us to build bridges and not walls, art reminds us of the power of change and human connection. We thank Karen Thomas, the curators and all the organizers for making us part of this shared narrative.”

His participation confirmed WAI's emphasis on all forms of cultural expression that generate inclusion, awareness and community.

Consistent and ongoing commitment

WAI's participation in this exhibition is part of a broader path of active support for intercultural culture and education. Through partnerships with institutions, artists and local entities, the association is committed to creating opportunities for dialogue and discussion in which every voice can find space and resonance.

“Supporting cultural events like this means investing in a more conscious, inclusive and harmonious future. Beauty, when shared, becomes a transformative force,” added a WAI representative.

An experience that leaves its mark

The June 1 day was a moment of intense participation and exchange. In addition to the artist and curators, institutions, citizens and representatives of cultural and associative realities were present. A diverse audience that made the opening a lively and meaningful experience, a tangible sign of the social function of art.

Welcome Association Italy renews with this occasion its commitment to stand alongside those who create, tell and build beauty, promoting initiatives that place people, memory and the future at the center.
