Presentation of the book “Imperfect Destiny” – An evening of memory, culture and intercultural dialogue

The presentation of the book "Imperfect Destiny - Story of a Son of the Armenian Diaspora" by Letizia Leonardi and Kevork Orfalian was held yesterday, April 28, 2025, at the Horafelix Bookstore in Rome, in an event organized in collaboration between theItalian-Arab Assadakah Association and Welcome Association Italy (WAI).

Opening the meeting were institutional greetings from Talal Khrais, Founder of Assadakah, and Carlo Palumbo, Deputy Secretary General of Welcome Association Italy.
The evening was moderated by lecturer and poet Elisabetta Pamela Petrolati, who skillfully led the dialogue with the authors and gave voice to some poems by poet Francesco Terrone, read during the evening.

The event also featured opening remarks by H.E. Vladimir Karapetyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Italy, who stressed the value of memory and cultural identity in building bridges between peoples.

"The story told in this book is not just an Armenian story. It is a universal story of belonging, of fragments of identity scattered around the world, finding meaning in the dialogue between cultures," said Carlo Palumbo during his remarks.
"As Welcome Association Italy, we are proud to support moments such as these, which reinforce our mission: to promote inclusion through culture, memory and speech."

The presentation was enhanced by the projection of photos and short films related to the history of the Armenian people, offering the audience an emotional and reflective immersion in one of the most intense diaspora narratives of the last century.

The initiative reaffirmed the role of culture as a powerful tool for generating encounter and understanding among diverse communities and for supporting the building of a more welcoming, aware and supportive society.
