Welcome Association Italy at the presentation of “Storia di un reporter,” the book by Talal Khrais
National Deputy Secretary Carlo Palumbo participated in the event hosted by the Foreign Press Association in Rome, dedicated to journalism, remembrance, and international dialogue.
Rome, November 3, 2026 – Welcome Association Italy (WAI), represented by National Deputy Secretary Carlo Palumbo, participated in the book presentation “Story of a Reporter – Talal Khrais Tells His Life Story to Andrea Cucco,” held at the Foreign Press Association in Italy, in the prestigious setting of Palazzo Grazioli in Rome.
The book, with a foreword by Senator Stefania Craxi, traces the personal and professional journey of journalist Talal Khrais through experiences, encounters, and testimonies that span some of the most significant moments in contemporary history.
The initiative provided an important opportunity for the worlds of media, diplomacy, and institutions to come together, offering a reflection on the role of journalism in understanding international events and fostering dialogue among different cultures.
A Story of Journalism, History, and Personal Accounts
The book stems from a dialogue between Talal Khrais and Andrea Cucco and chronicles a professional journey marked by experiences gained in complex international contexts, including conflict zones, political events, and encounters with key figures in institutional life.
Through the journalist’s personal account, the work invites readers to reflect on the importance of firsthand testimony and on the media’s responsibility to accurately portray realities that are often marked by tensions and profound transformations.
Alongside the professional aspect, the human dimension comes to the fore: the relationships built over the years, the encounters and experiences that allow us to view historical events through the stories of the people who lived through them.
A Convergence of Journalism and Diplomacy
The presentation was chaired by Patricia Thomas, President of the Foreign Press Association in Italy, with remarks by Senator Stefania Craxi, author of the foreword.
The program also featured the participation of H.E. Carla Jazzar, Ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon to Italy; H.E. Vladimir Karapetyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Italy; and Fabio Squillante, Director General of Agenzia Nova.
The international scope of the event highlighted the value of journalism as a tool for knowledge and dialogue, capable of bridging different cultural and institutional perspectives.
The participation of Welcome Association Italy
The presence of National Deputy Secretary Carlo Palumbo is part of the institutional and cultural outreach efforts that Welcome Association Italy is pursuing with diplomatic representatives, media figures, and organizations committed to promoting international dialogue.
The Association has already had the opportunity to collaborate with Talal Khrais at the international conference “Women and Diplomacy: Voices from Around the World,” organized by WAI on October 2, 2025, at LUMSA University in Rome, during which the journalist moderated the panel discussion on Arab and Mediterranean diplomacy.
Attending the book presentation thus provided yet another opportunity to build on a relationship forged through initiatives that focus on mutual understanding, dialogue between institutions, and the value of international experiences.
For Welcome Association Italy, promoting opportunities to engage with the worlds of media and diplomacy also means helping to create learning opportunities for the younger generation, particularly for students interested in international relations and intercultural dialogue.
The Value of Memory for Future Generations
Finally, the presentation of *Storia di un reporter* offered food for thought on the importance of preserving and passing on the testimonies of those who directly experienced events that have shaped contemporary history.
For young people entering the fields of journalism, diplomacy, and international relations, engaging with these experiences offers an opportunity to understand the complexity of events and the role of human relationships in interactions between countries and communities.
Welcome Association Italy once again expresses its appreciation to Talal Khrais for his personal and professional journey, recognizing in his testimony, his efforts to inform others, and his commitment to intercultural dialogue values that help foster a more open and informed society.
Participation in this initiative reaffirms the Association’s commitment to continuing its efforts to build relationships and create opportunities for dialogue among the institutional, cultural, and academic communities.
