Welcome Association Italy at the celebration of Jordan’s 80th Anniversary of Independence

A ceremony organized by the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Italy, aimed at fostering diplomatic, cultural, and institutional dialogue among peoples.

Rome, June 11, 2026 – In the prestigious setting of the Casina Valadier, in the heart of Rome, the celebration of the80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was held, sponsored by the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Italian Republic.

The initiative, organized at the invitation of H.E. Ambassador Kais Abu Dayyeh, brought together institutional representatives, diplomats, cultural, economic and associational figures, offering a high-profile moment dedicated to Jordan’s history, identity and international projection.

The 80th anniversary of independence is a particularly significant occasion for the Jordanian people. It is not merely the celebration of a historic date, but the recognition of a national journey that, over the decades, has seen the Hashemite Kingdom consolidate its role as a force for dialogue, balance, and cooperation in a geopolitical region of extraordinary complexity.

Jordan, a crossroads between the Mediterranean and the Middle East, has been able to build over time its own institutional identity based on continuity, enhancement of cultural heritage and the ability to dialogue with different international interlocutors. Culture, tourism, investment and diplomacy were among the themes evoked during the evening, testifying to a vision that looks to the future without forgetting the country’s historical roots.

The ceremony was also attended by Welcome Association Italy (WAI), an organization dedicated to welcoming, guiding, and supporting international students and foreign communities in Italy. WAI’s participation in the event underscores its focus on diplomatic and institutional contexts that foster engagement among countries, universities, regions, students, professionals, and international citizens.

WAI’s mission stems from the need to support those who come to Italy to study, receive training, gain international experience, or pursue personal and professional growth. In this context, dialogue with diplomatic missions plays a central role: it helps strengthen relationships, better understand the needs of international communities, and contribute to the development of more accessible, practical, and integrated reception pathways.

At a time when international mobility requires increasingly targeted and coordinated measures, embassies, institutions, universities, businesses, and associations are called upon to collaborate in order to make the processes of orientation, integration, and participation more effective for foreign students and citizens living in Italy.

“Welcome Association Italy’s participation in this celebration represents, for us, a moment of great institutional and human value. The 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan reminds us of the importance of history, national identity, and cooperation among peoples. As WAI, we believe that international dialogue should not remain merely a diplomatic principle, but should translate into concrete relationships capable of supporting students, individuals, and communities throughout their journeys of mobility, integration, and growth in Italy,” stated Carlo Palumbo, representing Welcome Association Italy.

The evening was also an opportunity to reaffirm the value of relations between Italy and Jordan, two countries linked by historical, cultural and institutional relations that find in cooperation a common ground for development. The celebration of Jordanian independence, in this sense, was not only a tribute to the history of the Hashemite Kingdom, but also an invitation to strengthen bridges, exchanges and shared planning.

Welcome Association Italy expresses its thanks to the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Italian Republic and H.E. Ambassador Kais Abu Dayyeh for the invitation and for organizing an event capable of combining memory, diplomacy and international perspective.

Special thanks also go to Assadakah – International Association for Italian-Arab Friendship – for offering Welcome Association Italy the honor and opportunity to take part in a celebration of such great institutional, cultural, and human significance.
