Meeting with the Ambassador of Sudan

Rome, Oct. 31, 2024 - A delegation from Welcome Association Italy, led by Deputy National Secretary Carlo Palumbo, was welcomed to the headquarters of the Embassy of Sudan in Italy. Specifically, Sudan's Ambassador to Italy, His Excellency Sayeb Altayeb Ahmed attended an important follow-up meeting with respect to the event "Sudan between war and peace: the role of humanitarian organizations," held on May 17, 2024.

The meeting was a crucial opportunity to deepen and consolidate the dialogue initiated in May. The discussion focused on migration challenges and the importance of the work of associations working to support the Sudanese community in Italy. During the discussion, key factors influencing migration were analyzed, including political and social conditions in Sudan and the dynamics of reception and integration in Italy.

The Ambassador emphasized the value of shared initiatives and expressed appreciation for the efforts of organizations committed to improving the living conditions of Sudanese abroad. In particular, the enhancement of advocacy and outreach activities was discussed in order to strengthen cooperation between the Sudanese community and Italian institutions. His Excellency's willingness to continue exploring these issues testifies to the commitment of Sudanese institutions to greater collaboration with humanitarian and social entities that promote the welfare and integration of the Sudanese diaspora.

Welcome Association Italy welcomes this sign of openness and remains ready to continue dialogue and joint initiatives to strengthen support for migrant communities and promote bilateral cooperation in the social and humanitarian fields. The association confirms its dedication to work alongside local authorities and communities to foster pathways to inclusion and sustainable development.
