Voices and Verse: Poems for children victims of wars

Rome, 21/06, at the Horafelix literary café on Via Reggio Emilia, an important meeting dedicated to children in the Middle East was held, organized by Welcome Association Italy (W.A.I.) and Assadakah (Italian-Arab Friendship Association). The event, titled "Voices and Verse: Poems for Children Victims of Wars, " brought together literary and journalistic figures to raise awareness of the plight of children in the region.

Carlo Palumbo, deputy secretary general of Welcome Association Italy, opened the evening with a keynote address, stressing the importance of keeping attention high on the conflicts plaguing the Middle East and promoting a message of peace and solidarity.

Talal Khrais, Head of International Relations at Assadakah, went on to contextualize the initiative and draw attention to the urgency of supporting children affected by conflict.

The evening was moderated by geopolitics expert Lelio Antonio Deganutti, who led the audience through a journey of meaningful reflections and interventions:

  • Michele Cioffi - Writer and president of the Libertas Association.
  • Patrizia Boi - Journalist and fairy tale writer
  • Giulia Bertotto - Writer, poet and journalist
  • Elizabeth Pamela Petrolati - Writer and poet
  • Bruno Scapini - Ambassador

Ambassador Bruno Scapini concluded the evening with a reflection on the origins of the conflict and the children's life stories, contributing a moving speech on their plight and the need to keep international attention alive.

The evening evoked great emotion and participation, creating an atmosphere of solidarity and closeness with the children of the Middle East. New resolutions and ideas emerged to continue to give voice and support to these issues through the synergy between journalism and cultural initiatives.
